SignaTrack™ Quality Assurance System
For production line
quality assurance relating to sound and vibration, RH LYON CORP designs, builds and installs
turnkey SignaTrack™ systems.
SignaTrack™
Systems are used to:
- Prevent
shipping products that make objectionable sounds
- Identify
assembly defects and diagnose the appropriate corrective action
- Reduce
customer complaints from new products because they sound defective
- Reduce
under-warranty repair costs
- Improve
customer satisfaction
Example applications
of SignaTrack™ systems include:
- Production
line testing of motor, gearbox configurations
- Evaluation
of noise emissions from hermetic compressors
- Sound
radiation from household appliances
- Laboratory
audit of automotive components
Though consumers
are typically concerned about noise, it may sometimes be better
to carry out an equivalent monitoring of vibration levels. Vibration
signals are local and are not readily contaminated by sound
in the noisy environment within a plant. However, establishing
an equivalent vibration test requires careful design of the
measurement and processing techniques, as well as careful design
of the jigs and fixtures.
As part of
a SignaTrack™ system design, RH Lyon Corp will:
- Analyze
product signatures to establish pass/fail criteria
- Work
with process engineers to ensure proper production line integration
and scheduling
- Design
on-line measurement techniques and procedures
- Establish
data recording and reporting requirements with management
A SignaTrack™
system might include such components as:
- Motor
and brake controls, tachometer
- Vibration,
force or sound sensors
- Industrial
grade computer and display
- Custom
software for test cycling, data acquisition and analysis
- Data
archiving and QA report generation
- Display
outputs, lamps, lights and alarms
- Push
button control inputs
Systems
based on the SignaTrack™ architecture can be less expensive, simpler
and more capable than systems built around a collection of general-purpose
instruments.
