ABOUT THE COMPANY
RH Lyon Corp was founded in 1976 as an engineering services company with special strengths in product noise and vibration, sound quality, and machinery diagnostics and monitoring. Since that founding, we have assisted leading manufacturers throughout the world with their new product designs and with remedial product noise solutions. An important aspect of product noise is goal setting — the sound that one is trying to achieve. The company has been a strong leader in the development of methods that tie the assessment of sound quality as perceived by customers to the design process as practiced by product managers and engineers. Since sound and vibration can also signal operating problems in manufacturing and in the field, we have also developed methods and systems for the diagnostics of manufacturing processes and the in-service operation of products.
The Company’s President and Founder, Dr. Richard H. Lyon, is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has published widely in the technical literature and is recognized as a major contributor to the science and technology of acoustics. In April, 2003, he was the recipient of the Gold Medal of the Acoustical Society of America, its highest award.
